I need to rename about 57,000 songs in my music library and rather than sit here and go F2 for each song I remember a way of doing it through a text editor that required you using fields for find and replace. You would then save the text file as a batch file run it and it would instantly rename all your files. trying this through excel is long and tedious I just want to take the track list and change instantly. Each file name will be custom different names per track so I can't use a bulk renamer.

Any help is appreciated thank you.

There are better (and simpler) ways. There are tools available which lets you specify the nomenclatures.

You may also google with words like "file rename utility" "bulk file rename" etc.

Hope this helps.

I use a program called Flash Renamer for renaming my music files. It can automatically rename mp3s based on the content stored inside most of them (the id3 tag). It also has find & replace like you want. It is very easy to use. I got it here:

Flash Renamer can batch rename filename extensions. (yet changing the extension won't substitute the filetype, so i don't see why you would be wanting that. CBR records are relatively rar-techniques containg distinctive records.)
