What if any is the best program for automatically checking for updates and updating your installed programs?

If it doesnt exist it sure would be a great idea.Something that scans your pc and then gives you a list and choice of which programs have an update feature and allows you to schedule regular automatic update checks and downloads ...similiar to windows update but for your own installed programs!
There is a program called Installshield Update Manager by Macrovision URL:http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=q111006
but I plan to ghost my system drive before I try it out.Any answers or ideas are much appreciated

Each program has its own update routine - some are driven manually e.g. Adobe Acrobat. If you have Adobe Acrobat open it might say there are updates available 'do you want to update?'



So there isn't one program that can update every program on your PC.
