The wordpress site calls it the : Famous 5-minute install-

I wonder what it's famous for?
Perhaps because it takes much more than five minutes to install

Here is what I get when I try to install this 5min wonder:

Entering readme I see:

First things First:

Open wp-config-sample.php

I did the unzip

I opened wp-config-sample.php

I get window: can not open this file….

So I use: web service to find correct program

I get this:
Windows has the following information about this file type.
This page will help you find software needed to open your file.

File Type: Microsoft Picture It! Document or PHP HTML Scripting Language file
File Extension: .php
Description: This file can be either a Microsoft Picture It! Document or PHP HTML Scripting Language file. PHP HTML files can be opened in Notepad or other applications that open text files.

Software or information available at:
• Microsoft Picture It! Document
• PHP HTML Scripting Language

I chose Microsoft Picture It! Document
And received this: Microsoft has discontinued its line of Digital Image Suite products*. Many of the digital imaging features and tools that have been enjoyed for years now can be found in new Microsoft titles and services including Windows Vista™. For more information Click Here These products will be available in retail outlets while supplies last. Customers will receive product support for up to three years from purchase date or through January 13, 2009, whichever date is reached first

you could run Wordpress on your own laptop with WAMP or different webservers/etc. maximum loose internet hosting amenities are not likely to provide the finished determination of amenities required for WordPress (or very restricted get admission to, alongside with in undemanding words one sq. table the position about 8 are mandatory). Wordpress itself can host your own replica. TypePad is yet another determination, which could have an same obstacles/criteria.

Wordpress is easy to install. The problem you're having is not with Wordpress, but with software completely unrelated to Wordpress.

Delete the first zip file. Try re-downloading it, and unzipping it again.

Try another unzip program. Use Winzip, 7zip or Winrar. Google them - they'll be the first or second result that comes up.

It sounds like you don't have php support enabled.

I'd help, but I installed it under Linux with no problems.
