Hi I'm looking for an antivirus free download please, I don't see why I should pay for one, but ya, my machine is totally messed up right now and I know there are free ones out there. I only just bought this laptop and I'm gutted that it's running slow and is all virused up, I'm pretty careful about what I download. I got a free malware prog, it couldn't have been that could it?PLEASE can someone tell me where I can find an antivirus free download link, that will work to fix my machine?

Ya well, here's why you *should* pay for a good antivirus: a lot of trojans masquerade as free this and that, and then bombard you with ads&slow your machine so you will pay, one way or another :/ http://AntivirusKiller.net Have an excellent internet security package that will fix your laptop and stop it ever getting hijacked again, period. It's not free, but it is very inexpensive and this is something worth paying for.. you may lose data if you don't properly protect your machine. They saved me losing access to my research and my machine runs so smoothly now.

I sincerely hope that nobody followed the advice of the "best answer". There is no such anti trojan as antiviruskiller. The name says it all. Furthermore the domain he directed you to was registered on 11/20/2013, almost a whole day before this fake question and answer. It's main IP address is 192.31.186.14. Suspicious, most definitely. Especially when noting from Google that this site has hidden their content via site's robots.txt. Why would a reputable site do that ? They just wouldn't. So, I'm guessing people have to go their to get some sort of nasty viral injection into their system.

Bad luck only 3 visitors, scammers ?

Because it's such an obvious amateur tactic I am assuming that Op, Anna set the question up for the potentially harmful answer by DAYNA. You will be interested to note that their accounts have either no other activity or if they have it is hidden.

You will see from the screenshot of a google search of their name they even ran a competition to find the name of it. Bloody script kiddies.

Nuff said.

Hello. My name is Sanjay Patel, and I currently hold an honorary Master's degree in the field of Computer Science. I am aware of, and have personal knowledge related to your question. There are computer maintenance businesses which are probably in your area, however they come at the cost of hiring a professional to enter your home. There may also be some local destinations where you can drop off your computer and wait to have a technician look at it. These options can often be costly, and pretty inconvenient. The answer to this question can probably be found doing a little extra research on Google.

A well-running computer can be a hard thing to maintain. From my experience, there is but only One software which is reputable- and consistently reliable for healing sick, slow computers. Reimage™ - https://reimagefix.im is a world-renown, easy to use software designed by Forensic scientists and made for the average person. This thing will fix literally just about ANY problem you could possibly be having with your PC. Reimage was recommended to me by a Professor during my 2nd year of Graduate school

Avast! free edition from www.avast.com is good, but you need to do the following first:

Boot into Safe Mode with Networking.

Download and install Malwarebytes Antimalware (free) from

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

A fresh download will prevent Malwarebytes being infected before use.

Allow updates when requested.

Run Malwarebytes and delete malware.

Reboot normally.

To boot into Safe Mode, press F8 repeatedly while rebooting.

If that does not work try the following:

Start, Run, msconfig. Click on the BOOT.INI tab and select /SAFEBOOT and NETWORK. Apply, close and restart.

When finished with Safe Mode, run msconfig again and select Normal Startup from the General tab, apply, close and restart.

Now you can download Avast.

Hello friend, in my experience the best antivirus software available to free download is McAfee.

Avast: consistently receives the top reviews.

I NEED the extra benefits and cover the paid version of Avast provides.

Personally, I also like the 'Audio Alerts' warning given:

of threats, file issues and automatic updates.

You might want to review WHY your lappy is all "virused up"

to use your own words.

Dodgy downloads, dodgy sites you use?

Scanning files BEFORE you open them, is a good idea too.

Run a quick scan daily, and a full scan weekly.

NOTE:

A full scan WILL slow down your rig and takes some time to complete.

As a result, I run this one overnight .... just as I go to bed.

As for malware programs use Malwarebytes, which is as good as you'll get for free.

Update the program manually on a daily basis, then run a quick scan.

Again, run a full scan weekly!!

As you mention the your machine is virused up so my suggestion to install any antivirus from CD/DVD instead install it from soft copy because the virus may affect the antivirus as well and all your effort goes waste.

My another suggestion is to use light weight antivirus would better to work speedly rather than heavy one like :

Protegent Antivirus

Protegent Internet Security

Eset Antivirus

Eset Internet Security

Dr. Web Antivirus

I have AVG free and that is a 100% safe software that you can have forever free of charge. Your machine will most likely survive it depends on the infection but if it doesnt it is really not a big deal because most of your data can be salvaged from the hard drive and you can just wipe the rest.

This is a good link for downloading Diner Dash 2: Restaurant Rescue for free: http://bitly.com/1BDxGp1

it's completely free and it's very fast to install

It is an excellent and super addictive game of the “casual game” type that, with its incredible graphics and detailed scenarios, makes it a truly entertaining game.

Try it out

Hello Anna,

As far as free anti virus programs go, there are quite a few of them out there, some better than others. I personally use the free version of Avast. I used to use AVG for a while, but it has become rather bloated over the past few years and has a much larger "footprint" that Avast, ( that just means that it uses more resources than it really needs to and as a result will slow down your computer a bit, just my opinion)

You can download Avast free from their website, but just watch out as pretty much all the free anti virus software companies will offer you their free version, but they will continually try to get you to upgrade to their paid version. They will usually offer a "Free Trial" that is good for 30 days or so, and then it will expire and you will need to purchase the product if you wish to continue using it.

Don't fall for it, the free versions work just fine for the average user and you do not need to get the paid version with all the additional bells and whistles.

One thing to be aware of with Avast, they require you to register your free version. You just need to click the Registration button in the main Avast screen, and give them your name and an email address, that's about it. You will then be good to go for one year, and when the end of the year is almost up, they will send you warnings that your registration is about to expire. You just need to go back into the registration screen and re-register again with your name and email address.

As I said in the beginning, there are lots of free anti virus programs out there, I've tried quite a few of them, but I keep coming back to Avast, I have yet to get any type of virus while running Avast, I can't say the same of most of the other anti virus programs I've tried over the years.

Also, be wary of what malware program you downloaded as there are some out there that advertise themselves as malware programs, and they end up giving you false information telling you that your computer is infected with malware or viruses, and that you need to pay them to download a program that will help to clean up your computer. There are quite a few of these types of programs out there.

I only use 2 programs to protect my computer from malware and spyware, they are Malwarebytes, free version, and Spybot, also free version. If you computer is running slow and giving you problems, I would recommend downloading Spybot and Malwarebytes free and run them both on your computer to make sure you haven't got a bad malware program on your computer already

Hope this helps and answers your questions, Good Luck!

I don't think I helped much but good luck
