I have tried Copy and Paste, but there HAS to be a way to add another image--like if you wanted to combine 2 images. Also, sometimes when I C&P, if the picture is too big, it only shows it based on the first jpeg you used.

I'm trying to photoshop my friend's face onto a Santa Claus. So I cut out his face and made it a separate layer, ready to be manipulated. But this is one thing I can't freakin figure out in Photoshop, and it's driving me NUTS. If I wanted to add, say, a jpeg of a Santa to work with...or even just a little ornament--how do I import that jpeg in there?

Am I supposed to start with a blank page and add all of the images in there? (I'm never sure how big to make it..). Any help is appreciated. :-)

Okay, For the 'image size' problem - here's what you've got to do.

Just start your project. And if you want to change your project's size at any time, try the 'Canvas Size' property. It's a bit tricky to use but you'll get used to it. That way, you can make your project's size bigger.

You can find this property from 'Images' on the top.

And to import another JPEG file

- Open your that JPEG in a separate window

- Then copy and paste it to your 'Santa Clause' project

Hope it helps!

The reason the image doesn't always come into the new file at the right size is that the resolution may be set different for the source and destination file.

Alternatives to copy and paste are having both documents open, and using the Layers palette clicking on the layer you want to add, hold mouse down and drag over the document you want to add it to, or going to File>Place, locate the file on your hard drive and add it. To complete this process scale/move placed image around to suit then click on the Move tool to complete placing.

You can copy and paste it into a new layer. Change the size, opacity, or order of your layers... once scaled, you can Copy Merged and Paste it into a new project if you want. But believe when I say you'll be a lot less sorry if you keep the layers separated.
