Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 vs Student & Teacher Edition?

What is the difference between Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3 Student & Teacher Edition vs. Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 3? And I also saw a Lightroom 3 Upgrade, which was cheaper than the Lightroom 3, and wondered if you can just buy/use that without having the Lightroom 3.

The difference is you need to be a student/teacher residing in USA or Canada to be eligible for a discount on purchase price, AFAIK the software is the same-

Lightroom 3 upgrade is only useful to you if already have a license for Lightroom 1 or 2- you need to have one of these already.

Adobe's Student Editions are sold worldwide and are identical in features and functionality in every respect to the regular versions - the only differences are the price and the licensing terms

To get the normal product upgrade price you must have owned one of the previous versions. However Student and Teacher Editions are so cheap that they're not upgradeable to other Education editions, only to commercial versions.
