I found the area to actually change the folder picture.
Only- can I get a picture of myself as the new icon picture? I made one 26*26 pixels- saved it as jpg format- but still can't seem to open it as an icon. What all do I have to do?

Thanks!

First you need to convert the jpg format to icon format and here are the steps:

1.Download_Microangelo:http://www.entity.cc/download-microangelo.php

2. Open Microangelo

3. Choose "Edit" from the top menu and choose "Import"

4. Locate the JPG on your computer and click on it

5. Make edits to it if you want

6. Go to "File" + "Save As" Choose "Icon Resource"

After creating the icon go to the folder that you would like to change its icon. Right-Click on that folder then go to Properties > Customize > Change Icon and then Browse to the place where you saved your icon then click on OK > OK

Enjoy =D

Did you try going into the properties of the "book" icon? I don't know VISTA but I would think that the properties are available to look in just like it is in XP. (you do this by right clicking the icon and at the bottom is properties) If it is there should be a "customized" tab in there which would allow you to view some different icons to use. Another option is to try using the "classic" version of XP on your start menu. I don't know if that will change the look of your icons but it's worth a try and if you don't like it you can always switch back. To change to classic view - in any version of VISTA: **Open Taskbar and Start Menu Properties by clicking the Start button , or what ever way you like - just go to the Control Panel and click Appearance and Personalization, and then click on the Taskbar and Start Menu. **Click the Start Menu tab, click Classic Start menu, and then click OK. Another option is try purchasing a cd/dvd with icons (or find a site where you can dl them for small cost) This should enable you to use any icon in your library for anything on your desktop. If all else fails have your pc wiped and install XP in it! (that's what I did -XP is still available at certain sites I would be sure to get the full cd version and not the OEM)

right click on the folder go to properties, choose customize, and at the bottom of the window there should be an option that says "Change Icon..." select it, another window will com up with icon pics, then select browse in the window with the pics and it will bring up like your my documents go through that until you find the file, and right click and choose select. It might be easier if you put the pic somewhere easy to find like the desktop
