How did you manage to run disk utilities if you can't boot?

Doesn't matter. It sounds like your disc is damaged. These things can be either completely fixable with a utility or not fixable at all (if the problem is in the hardware of the drive, and not just the contents.)

Regardless, you need to do a backup of this drive to get the data off it before it stops working entirely. What I would do is remove it from the macbook pro, stick it in a USB drive enclosure (whenever I do this I just rip apart an old drive and replace it with my problem drive) and then mount it on a working mac so I can transfer the data elsewhere.

Disk Warrior is a good program. But no program can fix every kind of disc error. At some point it's not worth it to try to repair a car that's totalled, right? You may be able to get your data off the drive, though, if you do it ASAP. The more time it spends turned on and running, the more possible a truly catastrophic error could occur.

Tony, I feel your pain. The invalid node structure comes when the disk is corrupted( meaning inodes which are pointers to the data location are broken). Many of the files may have been corrupted and it could be the cause of OS not booting because of bad Hard drive sectors. If the disk has too many bad sectors, it is time to replace this drive with a newer one. It is very easy to replace and install your OS/data from your backup (Time machine) if you have one. If not then you need to restart from scratch.

I have replaced drives(to a 1TB HD) and memory(to 8GB) on a 2009 MBP and it was very to do. I was able to copy the OS and data from the older smaller size HD. But I did not have bad sectors.

I have not used Disk Warrior and hence cannot comment on it. I guess it is pricey too $99. If you have backed up your data to a USB or external drive (as I do on all Macs), then you will have all your data including files, photos, music and what not. If the Disk file structure has not been modified or disturbed (on inodes) some programs like Disk Warrior may be able to get them out for you. If you do not have a backup, then you can try Disk Warrior and if the sale pitch is what it is, then you should use such a program.

Good luck and let us know how successful you are with your recovery efforts.

When all done, re-run the disk utilities to see how many bad sectors you have, If too many, I strongly urge that you replace the drive and always do an external disk back up(USB 500GB is good enough - I do backup 3 MBPs with it)

first of all in case you recognize for a certainty which you have 10.7 Lion on that gadget then you certainly've a restoration. What you ought to do it skill off the gadget all the way and restart the sytem conserving down the command key and the letter R. with the aid of fact the gadget is booting up in case you nevertheless shop conserving those keys you will get to the two a exhibit screen asking what language you prefer to apply or a exhibit screen asserting MAC OS UTILITIES. From there you will prefer to open the he disk application on the backside of the window, then elect the force macintosh hd on the left area interior the disk application window that opened. as quickly as you have completed which you would be positioned right into a accepted help tab on the appropriate, pass and decide the erase tab andf verify the format "mac os prolonged (jourlned) is chosen then click erase interior the backside precise. Its exceptionally speedy for that to erase then in simple terms close disk utiltiy and you'd be back on the mac os utilites and you'd be able to elect reinstall working gadget and in simple terms pass by the activates. you will prefer an internet connection and an apple identity as nicely reason the gadget is going to connect with the app save and prefer that identity to log in and acquire. From there you're sturdy to pass. in case you're particularly no longer able to get to the restoration force then the gadget will attempt and default to the "internet restoration" by using itself if it has a internet connection and it wil ask you for you apple identity, then it is going to acquire the working gadget which will take like 45minutes after which you would be taken to the mac os utilties exhibit screen of the restoration force, at that ingredient you're able to do what i defined above. in case you getr caught or something be at liberty to shoot me an e mail in case you prefer

Your question is way too vague.

Is your MBP still under warranty???

if so, it is PORTABLE, so, take it to the store where you bought it, or an Apple Store, and they will test your HARD DRIVE and repair or replace it.

TIP: Out of warranty? Take your wallet with you to the Apple Store.
