I second VLC, it's a media player Swiss Army knife.
Other media players you'll commonly find on Ubuntu and it's derivatives are Totem, Gnome Mplayer, Dragon Player (KDE), and Parole.
Of those, my favorite after VLC is Mplayer. Totem is the default movie player in Ubuntu.
*I went to winehq.org to check how well (if at all) Quicktime runs under the WINE compatibility layer. Results are not good; most testers rated the attempt as "Garbage", the highest rating it received was "Bronze".

Hello --
There are a lot of media players available for Linux ...
I use VLC it seems to be the best. Just for fun try a Google search for: "Media Players Ubuntu". Not only will you get a long list, but with a little work you can find the easy way to get the software on your system.
Best of luck,

I too recommend VLC Player.
Open the Terminal and submit the following command
sudo apt-get install vlc
LUg.
