Port numbers range is between 1-65,535

Because any port number is of 16bits only.

(2^16 - 1)=65,535

there is no "proper" bittorrent port, you can either choose one yourself or, allow the bittorrent software choose one for you. Keep in mind that the port number is best at around 200000 to 600000 range.
