Ok so, I'm pretty new at this whole internet thing and I have an old laptop given to me to use from a friend that I lost contact with, and well I e-mailed by clicking on an e-mail address. The problem is I realized I don't automatically have an Outlook e-mail account and someone must own it. I realized that after not getting any e-mails back and not being able to check the e-mail that I assumed was connected to my yahoo e-mail account (I know, I know I'm dumb). So, who owns the Outlook account? The original owner of the laptop or are the e-mails just simply getting lost in cyber space and not getting sent?

Please help me get to the bottom of this I can not reach the original owner of the laptop because they moved and I lost their cell number. Please no rude comments about how dumb I am because I'm new to the internet. Thanks!

If the account still exists (it may not), it's owned by the person who created it (your friend, probably). It's not an Outlook account - the account is maintained on your provider's email server. (Outgoing email probably goes whether you have an account or not [that depends on the provider]. Incoming [POP3] and outgoing [SMTP] email is handled completely separately.)

As I understand it (I don't use Yahoo as my email provider, since my internet provider provides me with a perfectly good email account), you need the premium email service with Yahoo to use it with an email program, otherwise you have to access it with your web browser. (Or am I confusing that with Hotmail?)

Hello, You can remove the profile of previously added account. If you had set IMAP protocol then it's messages will appear in inbox after deletion. So it is better to resolve protocol issues. Apart form this, naming contradiction with Outlook folder can be a genune reason for this hectic situation. Regards: Jane

Outlook is owned by Microsoft. Microsoft is a trademark of Windows. Windows is owned by Bill Gates ( original copyright owner).
