Help with Windows Vista?

First of all I have to admit that I am definitely NOT a computer genius. All that I know is that I just bought a laptop with Windows Vista, and I hate it. I have had problems emailing MS Word documents as attachments. The recipients cannot open the file because their computers cannot recognize the file type. I use my pc a lot for my job, and I need something that works. I liked Windows XP. How do I go about getting rid of Vista, and putting XP back on? I know this is a dumb question but do I just need to uninstall it like I would a regular program, and then download XP?

If e-mail recipients are having a problem opening Word documents, the problem probably isn't Vista, it Office 2007. If you have Office 2007 on your computer and you e-mail a document to someone who has Office 2003 or earlier, they won't be able to open the documents. You can, however, save the document in a form that can be opened on computers running Office 2003. Go to Save As and click Word 97-2003 Document.

First of all, the reason your word documents aren't saving is because when you save it, you need to scroll down the dropdown where it says, Word document, and change it to word 2003 XML document. That should solve the writing problem. Second, If you still want to uninstall vista, First, make sure you upload all the files you want to keep fromyour vista Laptop into a flashdrive, or cd. Next, make sure you have a windows XP software disk, and an uninstall disk that should have come with the laptop. What you do is put in the uninstall disk and follow the uninstall wizard until the software is removed. Then, input the Windows XP softawre disk, and follow the wizard until the XP software is uploaded. That's it! If your computer did not come with an uninstall disk, then you need to call Microsoft and ask them what to do. Hope that helped!

Moving from vista to xp on a new laptop is not a very good idea if you don't know much about computers...

First, you need to buy Windows XP, which is now hard to find in store and somewhat pricy. Then you need to put the CD in and format the computer... then follow the steps to install and update. By doing so, you'll lose all your data (unless you do backup first, which is obviously recommend), but you'll also lose your material drivers. If you have an built-in camera, finger-reader, microphone, speakers, trackpad and so forth, they may not work anymore!

Finally, you may not be used to vista but it's not that bad. The problem you have with Word isn't related to Vista as it supports Word and Word documents perfectly! Just ensure that the filename ends with *.doc. Plus, if you now use Word 2007, the filename will end with *.docx, these documents aren't compatible with previous versions of word unles you open them in Word 2007 and select "Save as..." and save in word 97-2000 format (which is the .doc one...).

I highly recommend you stay with vista due to the fact the drivers and other software on your laptop help it maintain at max performance i have a Acer laptop and to say some of the software on it doesn't work on xp or below but only vista but the software is awesome especially the laptop tracker in case it gets stolen it uses wifi to act as a beacon while. Besides vista has the best games and graphics and interfaces then xp or others. And besides I highly think Microsoft will stop supporting xp soon and if true that would not be so good for xp users. :-(

Microsoft has stopped including XP as an OS option when buying new computers. Downgrading is possible but not easy, your better off getting used to Vista. The MS Word problem is that your version of Word is the most recent and saves documents as .docx which can only be used on new versions of MS Word. When saving documents, save as a word 97-2003 documnet (.doc) so others can access it.

Vista. some human beings say Vista makes use of up plenty gadget ram. this is genuine. Vista makes use of those ram to velocity up the pc. Thats why there is not any longer plenty unfastened ram. Xp wastes those unfastened ram doing no longer something. Vista is much extra properly matched than XP than u think of this is. Vista hasn't any concern to me for a million year already. Vista is swifter whilst beginning application and initiating the pc. some human beings evaluate XP by using fact they're too used to XP or they're gamer. it form of feels vista is slower in video games via 2-5 fps. No massive deal. VISTa!

Before you reformat and install XP you need all XP drivers to support your laptop, once you have all your drivers its plain sailing from there just update to SP3 and do a few updates and your done.

I recently reformatted and downgraded to vista, the only problem i had was finding the correct graphics driver !

First of all you'll want to back-up all your important data to CD's/Flashdrive/Slave Drive because most likely then-not you'll have to reformat(erase) the hard drive that Vista is on. You'll also need a copy of Windows XP on a CD. After that it's pretty simple. Just insert the CD and follow instructions.

The ironic part of this problem is that it isn't yours.

Your recipients should all ready be ready for this so called problem. Its only because you will be using a newer version of Word that they cant read it. They need to download a patch from microsofts website.

I believe this will help them: Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack
