I badly procrastinated with a college English essay. I read through all the directions and I followed them all completely. (so I thought). I wrote it out beautifully and finished the whole thing. I r ead over the directions once more and realized that it needed to be TYPED!!!!!! the problem is I have Microsoft word(2007, vista) on my laptop(which is what I typed it onto). but the printer is not hooked up to my laptop. so i emailed the document to myself and went to retrieve it off of my family's downstairs comp(it is also Vista) but it doesn't have microsoft word!!!!! I really don't know what to do because it's 3 in the morning and my class is (technically) today!!

so i guess my question is...

Is there a way I can get the printer hooked up the my laptop?
Should I just go to a neighbors house and tpye it up there?
Or am I doomed??

When in Word, use the Save As... option and save the document as an .rtf (rich text format). This keeps the documents style intact but only if you don't have any graphics in the document.

You can then open this in Wordpad on the other computer.

If you have graphics, you might want to save it as a .html document. You can then open this in Firefox or IE and print it from there.

You are NOT doomed. You can ask a neighbor that would be the quickest way. Or if you have any other programs like word on your computer (not laptop) then you can use that instead.

There is always just telling the college that Microsoft Word isn't on your computer. So I guess tell them the truth if you're going to be late or something or what I have said above.

Hope I helped in someway!

quick wordaround would be to copy and paste from word to notepad before emailing. you'll lose any formatting like heading sizes, bold, italics, etc. save it as a .txt file and send that, then open that with whatever the computer with the printer has. (you might have to use wordpad.) reapply your formatting and print.

wordpad and notepad are in start > all programs > accessories.

If your printer has USB port you can connect it to laptop.

I think you wont need to install any drivers as Vista comes with latest drivers for all new hardware.

The ultimate option is use ctrl+printscreen & go on pasting document in paint. Transfer those images on your pc & print them.

I'm sure your downstairs computer has some sort of word processor on it. I think both NotePad and WordPad come standard on Vista. They are both located in Start > All Programs > Accessories. WordPad is the more advanced of the two programs. Just copy and paste the text from your document into one of those programs, and you should be able to print it :)
