an iso is a disc image,

it is a type of archive.

just moving or burning the iso in an unpacked state will not work.

you need to burn it to a DVD or CD,

using iso burning software.

......................................…

In XP/Vista

1. Download and install Infra Recorder, a free and open-source image-burning program.

Infra Recorder : http://infrarecorder.org/

2. Insert a blank DVD or CD in the drive and select Do nothing or Cancel if an autorun dialog box pops up.

3. Open Infra Recorder and click the 'Write Image' button in the main screen.

* Alternatively you can select the 'Actions' menu, then 'Burn image'.

4. Select the ISO/image file you want to use, then click 'Open'.

5. In the dialog box, click 'OK'.

......................................…

In Windows 7

1. Right-click on an ISO image and click on 'Burn disc image'.

Get the free program BurnCDCC. It only burns images or .iso files to a CD or DVD. Easiest program for burning image and .iso files to disk. Nothing fancy and is straight forward and simple to use. You don't put the .iso file on the CD/DVD, it doesn't work that way.

if all you see when you open the cd in the file manager is a .iso file, you burnt it wrong. An .iso is a bit for bit copy of a CD, and you need to run a CD writer that knows to use the .iso as a bit for bit template, rather than wrapping it up in a data session.
