I want to know your personal opinion on what you prefer. Windows, or Mac

In my opinion, only you can answer your own question:

If you already use Windows, go to the nearest Apple computer retailer and take an iMac or Macbook Pro for a good hard TEST DRIVE. And, ask the Sales Staff all of your "Mac VS. Windows" questions.

Then, make sure that when you compare prices, that the Windows PC is a TOP of the line Gaming Machine (like a Porsche) (not a $300 budget computer, like a russian LADA), because an Apple computer is the Farrari of the PC world. And, it runs Windows legally, so you can have the best of both worlds.

TIP: Before you decide, you owe it to yourself to try Linux Mint for example, too. Windows and OS X are not "the only game in town".

Microsoft Windows is an operating system. Apple Macintosh is a personal computer. An Apple Macintosh can run Microsoft Windows. The question is meaningless.

If it were not for my interest in PC gaming, I would not use Windows at all.

As far as every other application of a computer is concerned, a Mac is just as good as a Windows PC... in some instances better... audio and musical applications have traditionally been of a higher standard on Macs.

As it stands, a very large number of computer games made between, say, 1998 and 2011, are exclusive to PC computers with Microsoft Windows... because of directX, which is exclusive to Microsoft operating systems, and so many games were coded specifically to use it (excluding console games), and it was too unprofitable and difficult to make versions for Macintosh, or Linux.

I take a special interest in PC gaming, and I work in a Windows PC environment, so I have to continue to use it, for now. That will change in time, and I welcome that change.

I will never use Windows 8 or 8.1... that operating system is blatantly disrespectful of the privacy of users' information, and untrustworthy. I am done with buying new versions of windows. I hope my gaming interests can be catered for by an alternative, such as SteamOS or Linux, before 2020 when support for Windows 7 will be concluded.

Mac? It's a fine computer, but was never a real player in the gaming scene. Absolutely fine for anything else though...

As one of the creators of Windows, I'm a little biased. Apple does have less of a chance to get a virus but if you're tech savvy, that shouldn't be a problem anyways. Now I'm not saying apple doesn't have viruses all together but significantly less. Windows on the other hand have a lot more compatible programs and applications.

At present era, Apple bowed down to the Wintel juggernaut and Macs now essentially Apple-branded PC dictated to be EFI built.

Since I can easily dance in between the two environment I had no preference besides cost, but here is the tipping point: I have a touchscreen Windows 8.1 tablet 8.1 inch of Intel Atom, Macs have no equivalent to that.

The question of whether Mac's and Windows PC's are the best is settled and has been for a long time. The market has answered it. Windows PC's outsell Macs ten to 1. Macs are a niche PC that do not run the software businesses need and most home users. Apple has made a good quality niche PC that is not compatible enough for most people. That is why Mac users install Windows partitions. Paying twice as much for a computer that has to be altered to run what you need is only an option for people with more money than sense. Even though they can run Windows software even the biggest fan boys must admit that it has problems. Any company could build a PC that is incompatible with the software that is out there and make claims that it is better because it doesn't get as many viruses.

You need to separate hardware and software. To me the Apple hardware for the average user is far superior. My current Mac Book Pro that is 2 years old is by far the best of all the 15 laptops I have owned over the last 20 years.

Software on the other hand is a mixed bag. For personal things other than games I like Apple. For work I find moving files around, moving and editing pictures, finding the root of files to be easier on Windows. If I did not have two Windows laptops I would add a Windows OS to my Mac and dual boot.

For many people just doing simple stuff you should add Linux and Google to your choices. For web browsing the simple Chromebooks are a good way to go, and cheap.

Windows just cuz i'm used to it. Also I think file transferring and finding root files is easier on windows so yeah. Everttang else is better in Macintosh. Still prefer Windows though XD

Apple is a manufacturer of high end computers. The OS is built on BSD Unix which is a free operating system Linux is based on. Notice I said "built on". It's NOT a "free OS". Windows is a consumer OS for commodity computers. The two are NOT comparable, frankly.

I'm a Linux geek. I like technical OSes on commodity computers. I respect Apple and Macs but I don't often use them.

Go with PC

IMac's are beautiful machines but they suffer from heat issues because their closed in and not well ventilated my Mom has a silver case Mac from 2008 it would turn off suddenly all the time we noticed that it would get really hot when we touched the Mac at the top.

We paid a guy who knew what he was doing install a fan in the back of the Mac and now it stays cool all the time he installed SMC fan control he showed me the big difference.

Windows is an operating system. Mac is a brand of computers.... those two things are not really comparable.

You could compare Windows to OS X. But realistically, OS X is only used by individuals who needs to run Apple's development platform. It is just too cluttered and inaccessible.

both have pros and cons but i prefer windows as it can do anything i want really. Macs however in my opinion are not that good as theres not nearly as much stuff to get than on windows.

based on viruses and such, windows can get them more easily than Macs, macs use so much security and its quite a locked down system compared to windows.

but i use windows, and i use AVG antivirus software. hope this helps mate

Both are great operating systems, but when we compare the hardware involved in both these operating system windows will be a better choice. Mac is too costly compared to windows.

When it all comes down to it neither is better than, outperforms the other. They both share the same hardware made by the same companies. The difference is the operating systems. Both pretty much do the same thing in the same manner. What it boils down to is preference, and what you are use to

Windows:

-More hackers hack it, therefore more virus, malware, etc

-Core data easier to access

-More compatible

-More accessible

-More available applications

Mac

-Clean interface

-Less hacker hack it, therefore less virus, malware, etc

-Hard to access buried data

-Less compatible

-Less available applications
