If it were not for my interest in PC gaming, I would not use Windows at all.
As far as every other application of a computer is concerned, a Mac is just as good as a Windows PC... in some instances better... audio and musical applications have traditionally been of a higher standard on Macs.
As it stands, a very large number of computer games made between, say, 1998 and 2011, are exclusive to PC computers with Microsoft Windows... because of directX, which is exclusive to Microsoft operating systems, and so many games were coded specifically to use it (excluding console games), and it was too unprofitable and difficult to make versions for Macintosh, or Linux.
I take a special interest in PC gaming, and I work in a Windows PC environment, so I have to continue to use it, for now. That will change in time, and I welcome that change.
I will never use Windows 8 or 8.1... that operating system is blatantly disrespectful of the privacy of users' information, and untrustworthy. I am done with buying new versions of windows. I hope my gaming interests can be catered for by an alternative, such as SteamOS or Linux, before 2020 when support for Windows 7 will be concluded.
Mac? It's a fine computer, but was never a real player in the gaming scene. Absolutely fine for anything else though...
