I am formatting a document, and I need to split a lot of tables so they fit nicely on a page, but when I try to split the table, the option doesn't light up for me under table. Any pointers?

As far as I can tell, the option doesn't light up at all, but clicking it (on the Table Tools/Layout auxiliary tab) does split the table before the row the cursor is in.

Hope that helps.

try adding a new row, then highlight the row and select CONVERT ... TABLE TO TEXT and it will split the table (not a perfect solution, but should work).
