i have a HP printer. Word documents are printing absolutely fine. BUT, if I try to print via a forms and letters program within excel, it says that my margins are too big for the printer, I then changed it from A4 size to 'letter' thinking that would help but now I get a message saying 'now printing document 2 ' and then nothing! i can't see where to change them, and now I have like 12 documents waiting to print (i have no idea how to delete them either!!) i'm in a right old pickle and have given myself a headache.i have a toughbook computer if that helps. and all connections are correct etc. any advice would be appreciated. thanks loads. fluff.

HI

Go to control panels from the windows menu

choose printers (Or printers and faxes)

double click your printer

when the window opens you will see a list of queued documents

click on each document and from the menu choose cancel

this will delete the queued document - do this till they are all deleted

then you then need to sort out why the document were put in a queue in the first place - usually an ink problem or cable problem

If the printer has any flashing lights on it then this may be the cause ie out of ink or suffient ink

Resolve the issue and all should print again

Click on the printer Icon by the clock, and choose the option that allows you to see the documents that are waiting to print. If varies by manufacturer what it actually says. This should bring up a small window where you can see the documents waiting to be printed. Select each one and choose end task, or delete or what ever option you might have to cancel the printing of that document!

When a printer's document queue grows, it's usually because the printer is Paused. Try this:

In the dialog box that shows how many documents are in the queue, click the Printer menu item and see if Pause Printing has a checkmark next to it. If it does, that's your problem. To prevent a flood of useless documents, you may want to do a Cancel All Documents before Unpausing the printer.

You may need administrator privilege to cancel documents.

Hope that helps.

You don't change the paper size, but change the size of the margins in page setup.

File ► Page Setup ► Margins

Also you can pre check what it will look like when it's printed by you clicking on Print Preview.

[white sheet of paper with a magnifying glass on it]

Deleting the print queue, double click on the print icon the Task Bar then highlight each one in turn and select Delete
