Question:
How do I stop all these programs from crashing?

So, I recently updated to Windows 8.1. I had problems with speakers and screen etc. but I've fixed those.
I'm having trouble with the latest Firefox and Adobe, I had to download Realplayer to play videos but if I open a website I use regularly called Goodreads it shuts down. This also happens if I try to troubleshoot Firefox.
I cannot open Windows Live Photo Gallery either, this is causing me a lot of hassle with art work.
I also recently found my USB LifeCam VX-1000 which I have been told I can download the Windows 7 driver for to make work. This would be great except for the fact that this also stops working mid-download.
The error messages for all of them are the same:
........... has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Thank you for any help!

You do have problem's don't you? First, try uninstalling any programs you don't need. If that doesn't work try using a stand-alone program to update all your drivers. I use the driver update program that comes with IOBIT's Advanced Systemcare Free suite. Advanced systemcare is well worth having as it also clears out junk files, fixes registry problems and lots of other stuff too, including an excellent uninstaller. And it's completely free- bargain! It might not fix all your system instabilities, but it's a very useful place to start. On the subject of Adobe- sometimes installing the new version doesn't uninstall a previous version properly, with can cause problems. Try running the uninstaller, then re-installing Adobe. Might do it! (And ditch realplayer, don't run both together)

If none of this works, assuming your antivirus software is doing it's job, your next step really is to uninstall things one by one to see if you can find what's causing your problems, and then re-install with latest versions/drivers etc. Hope this helps

First of all, try uninstalling "RealPlayer" and use something more stable like MPC or VLC.

MPC (Media Player Classic):

http://sourceforge.net/projects/mpc-hc/

VLC:

RealPlayer embeds too much with system, and Windows 8.1 is still buggy, this causes many other programs to crash.

Also, try to look up for newer and much compatible diver software.

Keep in mind, Windows 8.1 is very buggy. Staying with Windwos 7 saves so much trouble. Just saying.

Hey there,

This is a good link for downloading VLC for free http://bit.ly/1lqgERQ

I guess it's the sotware you need.

Cheers ;)
