I have no clue what I'm doing anymore.

I have an HP Pavilion g7 notebook PC.

Earlier today Windows required me to update, however, when I restarted my computer after the update my sound settings and Windows Protection Center had been disabled.

I've system restored, tried troubleshooting with no luck, tried re-installing drivers from the manufacturer, etc.
Nothing seems to be working.

The error message pops up whenever I try to start my Windows Audio.

"Windows could not start the Windows Audio service on Local Computer.

Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start."

Whenever I try to go into my Device Manager and try to update my drivers, it simply states that they're already up to date and this is just really frustrating.

This is probably not a driver problem.  Run Services.msc and verify that the Plug and Play service and Remote Procedure Call services and both running.

There may be other services required.  To determine which (if any), double-click Windows Audio and click the Dependencies tab.

The statement "Windows required me to update ... after the update ... Windows Protection Center had been disabled" makes me wonder if you got a fake update alert that installed malware of some kind, which disabled the security software to protect itself.
