Question:
Is my copy of Microsoft Office considered genuine?

I bought my HP computer several months ago, which came with Windows Vista. It also came with a trial subscription of Microsoft Office to try. Eventually, my trial version ran out and I decided not to purchase the full version, since I don't have the money, and I have no need of Microsoft Office anyway thanks to the features of Microsoft Works (basically, all I need is Word Processor and Spreadsheet). I don't have full functionality of Office's features now, which is fine, like I said. This software is useless to me.

Yesterday, another user downloaded Microsoft Office Genuine Advantage from Windows Update. After doing some research, I'm worried that I may be hassled by Microsoft. Is my copy genuine, even though my Microsoft Office subscription expired? Microsoft seems unclear on this.

I haven't received a notice saying that my copy is invalid yet, but I want to know for sure if I should expect a pop up from them.

Thank you to anyone who can help.

Since you're not using Office, Office Genuine Advantage shouldn't bug you there, but if you have Windows Automatic Update set to download Office patches with Vista patches, you may get complaints there. If you do, go into Windows Updates and turn off non-Windows updates, this way:

1. Click the Windows button, then Control Panel.

2. Click System and Maintenance.

3. Under Windows Update, click Turn automatic updating on or off.

4. Uncheck Use Microsoft Update under Update Service. This switches you back to Windows Update only.

5. Click OK.

Hope that helps.

if there is a problem with your Microsoft Office, any windows update will automatically detect whether is it genuine or not, if is not, the os will tell you, but in this case, if the trial has exceeded and you cannot use the full features, worry not, it only blocks user from using its full potential, its still genuine, but not fully operational, so my suggestion is to uninstall the the program, buy another copy, anywhere, with the licence key, or, download a free program with the same function at download.com, the software is office org, just like office, only that it is free

You cannot download Microsoft Office through update, therefore your copy is not genuine. You must buy Microsoft Office at the store to get a genuine license.

Each disk of any program or OS that Microsoft sells is genuine. You can only use it once! If you don't have Microsoft Office I highly siggest that you download OpenOffice.

No, you won't be finding Microsoft heavies on the doorstop. Don't worry about it.

There's nothing illegal about having expired software on your machine, although you might want to remove it to recover the space.

i certainly doubt all of us provide you a loose key. we can't provide you a pirated key or keygen or cracks that are available everywhere in the internet. an decision is open place of work. it is honestly loose open source software, it is corresponding to place of work.
