BRAVO TO YOUR SCHOOL FOR INTRODUCING LINUX !

Unfortunately you do not indicate which version of Linux you are working with, so I will base my answer on Ubuntu.

Windows applications cannot run natively on Linux. WINE http://www.winehq.org/ can be used in some cases but by no means all and should only be used once all other native options have been exhausted.

There is a whole wealth of native open source alternatives available in the Synaptic Package Manager.

For Example :

Photoshop there is GIMP http://www.gimp.org/features/

Office there is OpenOffice http://www.openoffice.org/

WMP there is MPlayer http://www.mplayerhq.hu/design7/info.html

iTunes there is Rhythmbox http://www.gnome.org/projects/rhythmbox/

What distro is it? Ubuntu?

Whatever distro it is look for a package manager in the administration menu. Also you don't need iTunes and icq because Linux has Amarok and pidgin.

REHL isn't loose, it relatively is crimson Hats commercial utility, Fedora is loose and contributes to the crimson Hat RHEL utility. while you're going for a certification, it probable could make no experience to apply another version of Linux, even in spite of the shown fact that, relatively all of them function and operated an identical whilst it includes the working structures documents. crimson Hat makes use of .rpm documents, Mandriva makes use of .rpm documents and PCLinuxOS makes use of .rpm documents additionally. you need to use the different variations to objective issues out, using them as a LiveCD. wish you the terrific. Centos is Unix based, Ubuntu is Debain/Ubuntu based (root get entry to disabled).

lol, itunes and icq don't work in linux, no windows program will work, which distro r u using? u need to tell us that so we can continue helping u.

EDIT

You need to go to Yast and then software management to install programs, and yes its complicated, its not windows.

If its openSUSE then most software u need should be installed already.
