Hi,

I recently downloaded a torrent file for Puppy Linux 4.12 but noticed when I extracted the RAR folder all I got were a bunch of different files and not just one .iso file. The files I have are:

Boot file with an .msg file extension
Isolinux file that's .bin extension
Pup_412.sfs file
VMLinuz file
INITRD File

What files do I burn to make this work in a computer where I need to recover certain data mp3's/pictures mostly.Thank you.

P.S - I have Nero Burning Rom just so you guys know.

I have heard of cases where Windows treated an iso file as a rar file. Here is a direct link:

That should save an iso file if you click on it. If it comes out as a rar file, then try burning it or your original file directly to disk telling Nero it is a cd image.

EDIT: Okay, the literature I have found generally says no you can't burn rar images as isos -- though there are still the reports I mentioned. As I understand the situation though, what you can probably do, if the iso image doesn't work, is get your hands on a Knoppix disk, mount the hard drive as read/write, open a terminal and cd to the directory above the one with the files you mentioned (they are in a separate directory, aren't they? and create a boot cd with the command "genisoimage". The syntax would be something like genisoimage -G -o filename.iso .

The ISO contains an exact replica of the bootable image arranged - all you could desire to do is to place in writing the image directly to a CD. Use a application like the guy above exhibits. examine the MD5 sum earlier nevertheless as this could return the checksum of the image you could analyze on the acquire internet site - use something like md5summer. best pal
