You can try eMule or BitTorrent. For stuff to be compatible with iTunes, it has to be MP3, AAC (.m4a), WAV or AIFF, but NOT WMA. Some stuff on Limewire is in WMA, so if these cannot be imported into iTunes, this is why.

A program called "Ripcast" for about £10 will save all tracks played from Internet radio stations as individually named MP3s onto a folder on your hard drive. Go to "shoutcast" to listen to whats available, hundreds of stations/genres, you'll hear good stuff you've never heard of.

http://www.shoutcast.com/ (for radio stations)

www.xoteck.com/ (for Ripcast)

Totally legal too!

Don't download anything illegally, but g2p.org has been used before for legal free music.

Obey the law.

I would recommend Bittorrent. Use Isohunt (http://isohunt.com/) to find the files you want, then use utorrent (http://www.utorrent.com/) to download them.
