for me, I usually use WMP or some pro softwares, such as iWellsoft Power ISO Maker, which turn files into iso. format and burn them on cd. If WMP doesn't work then try some others.

Sounds like your dvd or cd rom burner drive is a tad old or its just broken, these things don't last to long the lens that writes to the disc burns up after a while and will not write but will read cds and dvds, the best thing to see if this is isn't the problem go to my computer, double click, go the cd or dvd burner drive and right click go down to properties now go the the tab that says enable cd dvd recording if the box is already checked then the drive may be broken and will need replaced. Just to help from getting your hopes up, try this free program its downloadable at cnet.com its called ashampoo burning studio free, download and install the software try and burn the cd if you still getting the same result there is no hope with burning cd's on that drive, so you will have to replace the drive in order to burn cd's.

There are many kinds of such softwares if you google. And i prefer Audio Maker to any other.

it allows you not only to make music CDs from various audio formats, such as MP3, WMA, WAV, M4A, AAC, AC3, and FLAC, etc., also to rip audio with different audio profiles from CDs, and extract audio from video (AVI, MPEG, WMV, MP4, 3GP, MOV, RM) to burn Audio CD, MP3 CD, and WMA CD.

You can know more from: http://kooksoft.com/iMacsoft-Audio-Maker_2593.html

Hope you can like it!
