I would update Java from the Java website, then uninstall all previous versions. That's a good security measure, too.

Generally browsers will freeze up for a few seconds when loading an applet but they will usually resume once it is loaded, so I would suggest upgrading your version of Java as well.





John N, I'm not sure how upgrading his Macromedia FlashPlayer would help with Java files...

I use Opera. It's way faster than Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer. I don't know about Avant because I never used Avant.

have you tried upgrading macromedia flash player for the browsers mentioned?

you should download the most current java applet this way it should be able to work
