There is no downgrade like there is an upgrade. Basically to downgrade means to reinstall your system (you decide if you want to reformat or note).
You'll need your XP CD to boot from to make it happen. And, ensure you save anything you want.
I would suggest trying the methods the others suggested. You have Win7 professional so you could try out XP mode. See here for details http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/.
You would need to download and install the two packages http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

If you really want to downgrade, insert the installation disk into your PC, and reboot. A notice should display before the windows logo appears saying something like 'Press any key to boot from the CD" Now just follow the on-screen instructions. MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP ALL YOUR FILES FIRST!!!

Why might you decide directly to downgrade? living house windows 7 is the greater desirable working gadget of the three. it fairly is what Vista ought to have been. On appropriate of that, ninety 8 is merely way too previous. you will not discover any drivers to your hardware.

No Problem. Go to the Control Panel, choose Program and Features then choose " Run Programs made to run in previous versions of Windows".
