after my last question here i decided to play around with linux ubuntu and after a few hours already have a few problems (but i guess thats just natural since im new to all this) anyway i want to sit down and play some monkey island with my brand new linux OS, however have encountered a problem right from the begining may i add, i insert the disc, right click the exe and click open with wine (yes already i have discovered wine, seems to be a popularprogram and almost every google search on linux and windows points me to their site)
anyway nothing happens, took a look at their website and tried it with the terminal way and i don't really understand what it said but basically..error...kind of universal in everything there.

in fact this is what it says to anyone who understands:

markyj@markyj-desktop:/media/cdrom0$ wine monkey.exe
wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x00000000 at address 0x418059 (thread 0009), starting debugger...

so if anyone can help me get it installed that would be great.

also trying to get graboid video to work but keeps getting stuck on something about not finding mozilla layout libraries if you can help with that as well, though my main priority right now is monkey island

thanks to all in advanced

Um. Here is what I get when I look up Escape From Monkey Island and Ubuntu:

Cedega is a non-free version of Wine. You might try the second one's recommendation for how to run it, but otherwise I would investigate Cedega.

There are 2 methods. You can run Ubuntu from a CD. It will mounted a tremendous transitority dossier, nevertheless it would possibly not do any harm to something else at the rough disk. You can repartition your rough disk so it has one or 2 Windows walls and one or 2 Linux walls. This is not complex and Ubuntu comes with a software for doing it. However, if you do not know what you are doing and press the improper button, you'll delete the Windows partition. You can nonetheless get better from this. The worst that may occur is that you just have got to reformat your rough disk and reinstall Windows. (Or quit on Windows altogether and set up Ubuntu)
