I tried to import a video onto Windows Movie Maker and this is the error box I get: "The file C:\Users\owner\Desktop\TakeOut.mp4 cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again."
What is a "Codec", what "Codec" do I need to install, and where can I install it at?

I would reccomend a codec pack which helps with a bunch of them. Here is one.

a codec is a way that a video is encoded

for example

you save a movie as a wmv file

and you save it with the h.264 codec

you can google "more codec for windows movie maker plugins" and probably find a plugin that will open that codec

Codecs are simply what allow you to encode and decode videos of certain formats. You can find the codecs for mp4's at this page: http://www.downloadatoz.com/howto/free-download-codec-pack-for-windows-media-player.html
