Hi just wondering if anyone can help, for some strange reason when I try to open a new Excel sheet/document, rather than opening a separate Excel icon on my toolbar, it seems to be stacking each other in the same screen - which is very annoying.

I have gone into the toolbar properties and there is no reason for it to be doing this, as I have this option unselected here. Also this problem is not apparent with Word.

Please help.

There is a tickbox for 'Windows in taskbar'

Make sure that this is checked. Once it is ticked, files should have their own icon on the taskbar.

Try tools options. Have you closed one of the documents properly, is it running in the background. try opening a new doc from programs then copy and paste your previous docs into it, keep repeating until you have all the docs again. Turn off multiple workbooks. If you have had a few workbooks open in the same window then go to the window menu and arrange make sure you close them individually.

That's the way Excel should work.

By opening several sessions of Excel you will provoke that the files needed to open Excel will be shared and that will prevent the application to work properly. Unless you're working with two screens you should open Excel just once with as many files you want.
