What program gives this warning? If it is your antivirus program then it is a virus!!! Autorun.inf is also a very common virus. Just choose the "delete" option when the warning comes up. And also scan the USB Flash disc fully with your antivirus for remaining virus files.

Well let me make one thong very clear to you. Autorun.inf file is NOT a virus file. The Autorun.inf is a Windows Information File that stores the Information of which file has to be executed automatically when the CD or USB Disk is inserted. The actual VIRUS file will also be present in the same medium. Don't go for any Antivirus programs. It consumes a large memory & u need to keep it Updated regularly. The Best Soln is: Get the Latest version of WinRAR (I think ver. 4). It's a free software. Install it. Keep the SHIFT button pressed for a while even after connecting the USB drive. The Autorun.inf will not run if the shift button is pressed. Now open the WinRAR shortcut on Desktop or in the Start menu and select the Pendrive in the address bar. All the Virus files including the Autorun.inf files are shown. U can double click the Autorun.inf file - BUT DO IT ONLY THROUGH INSIDE WinRAR (in case u don't know which is the Virus). The name of the VIRUS will come in a Notepad. Delete them from inside WinRAR & then u can use the pendrive normally. Though a time consuming task, it's very safe in case u know which are all the Virus files in the Drive. Any further doubts, please feel free to ask me. Always ready to help! Regards...

I think the USB device you are talking about is pen drive. Now, when you connect the you pc usb port it says autorun.inf virus, which means tha tyour system is capable to detecting virus in you pen drive and of course the would have deleted the virus.
Now you get irritated as whenever you connect to your pc, you get the same virus message. This is because your pendrive get infected by some other system on which you use this pen drive.

Keep pressed SHIFT button while connecting the USB drive. Autorun.inf will not run if the shift button is pressed.

if you have an i-pod, plug it into one of the usb ports that are not working and force it into disk mode (put it on hold turn it off hold, hold the menu and centre button for a few seconds) if there is any life at all in the usb ports that should make them work again
