I have an iPad 2 and I'm trying to update the software to 5.1 (or whatever the newest update for it is) in order to get icloud.

It says to do this go to Settings> General> Software Update.

But the problem is when I go to General I don't see an option for software update. I tried it on my iphone and there is an option for Software update, but my ipad doesn't have it.

Does this mean there is no way to update the software? Or is there another way? Thank you.

The software update button you are looking for is only in iOS 5 and newer. It sounds like you may not be running iOS 5 on your iPad yet. Try connecting your iPad to iTunes and then clicking the check for update button.
