I think all three have advantages and disadvantages. I am currently using Ubuntu and Mandriva on different computers. It seems to me that there is probably better support for Ubuntu. I have used Fedora also it didn't do it for me but could be the one for you. I agree with others that have said that Mandriva is also very good. Mandrive with KDE is windows like in look and feel but still definitely not windows.

I think the best thing is to download and run the live CD's of all 3 distros you have it narrowed down to. See which one you like the most and works best for you and your hardware. For my opinion I guess I would rank Ubuntu then Mandriva.

The installation of all of those distros is pretty much the same. It is very easy. Run the live CD (in most cases) click install from the desktop and follow the onscreen instructions. Just be careful when setting up your linux partition that you don't format your XP partition.

I tried installing Ubuntu. flopped out.

Now i use Fedora.

go to the site of fedora and download the DVD for installation.

There is no much issue with installation.

Most of the things are automated
