I created a line when I made a foot note. I deleted the footnote, but the line still exists. I can't get rid of it. I can't undo it either whereas I did it some time ago and the document has been closed, saved, and reopened.

First check that you have deleted the little number which was inserted beside the text to which you added the footnote.
If you have deleted this and the line still exists change the page view to 'Normal'.
Click on the 'View' menu and choose 'Footnotes'
In the bottom panel click on the drop-down arrow following 'All Footnotes'
Click on 'Footnote Separator', this will bring the line into view and you can select it and delete it.

that's a paragraph border. this is a thank you to do away with it: a million. on the menu bar, click the button that looks like this: 2. this might demonstrate dots the place areas have been, and left-arrows the place any tabs have been. extra importantly, it is going to demonstrate a paragraph mark () on the top of each and every paragraph. 3. pick the single on the line you prefer to delete. 4. click the layout->Borders and Shading menu merchandise. 5. click the field that announces "None." 6. click ok.

Quick fix for you, copy and paste the entire contents (if the undeletable line is highlighted when copying, omit it) and make new document.
Can do this in about 10 seconds, easy fix :)
