Program to convert a scanned pdf to text?

I have a pdf file that my teacher scanned in and I was looking for a way to convert it into actual text like a MS word document.

If the PDF contains a scanned document, then utilities to convert it straight to Word may not work.



You could try this:



1. Download and install PDFCreator and use it to print the document *as a black and white TIF file*.



2. Download and install SimpleOCR (freeware).



3. Run SimpleOCR and import the TIF - it will convert the document to the best of its ability. Note that the free version only handles machine type, not handwriting.
