An operating system needs to be compiled to work with the type of CPU. Most Linux versions work with typical Intel or AMD CPUs. But the Raspberry Pi uses an old ARM 6 CPU, so you would need an OS specifically compiled for that. The original Raspbian OS was a special version of Debian wheezy Linux specifically compiled for the Pi, along with compatible packages for programs and modules.



I hear that Kali is based on Ubuntu which is a Debian based Linux. But just because it is Debian based does not mean that it will run on a Pi, and programs or modules intended for Intel/AMD not specifically compiled for the Pi will not work.

I am currenly running Raspian. I have seen Arch running. I head mention of Kali.
