You won't be able to easily go back to 8.1 if you run disk cleanup and delete previous Windows installations. You'll have to get a restore disc from your computer's manufacturer to go back and you will lose all personal files and installed programs so be sure to backup any files you want to keep.

The upgrade will make a Folder called Windows.old. Keep that as you have 1 month to change back if you have trouble or don't like 10. Don't delete anything if you are doing the upgrade as it will put your old OS in that Folder. Then if you want to go back within the month, just go to Settings, Update& Security, and click Recovery. That will give you the option of going back to your old OS, which is stored in the windows.old Folder. But it is only good for 1 month.

Just don't delete the windows.old folder. That is your ticket back to the previous OS
