I have an iMac and recently my younger brother erased a bunch of programs and stuff to "make the computer faster"... The thing is that he erased something (he doesn't know what) and now I couldn't
open Limewire and some other programs, so I wanted to download Limewire again but the version that was available wasn't compatible with the version of iMac that I have, so a friend of mine told me that I should update the MAC OS X to the newest one which is MAC OS X 5 or something like that. What should I do? Also, is there any concequences? because I don't want to mess it up...

1st off don't ever ever ever let anyone jack with your computer.

You have just learned a valuable lesson of people jacking with your computer and they don't know what they are doing.

You can update your Mac to a newer operating system, the newest is Snow Leopard OSX 10.6

No doubt you have an earlier version. When doing this you will loose everything you have in the way of programs you have now.

You will have to purchase any upgrade to a newer operating system.

It sounds like you may have either OSX 10.3 or 10.4

The easiest fix is to get out the disc that came with your Mac and re Download the operating system you already Put in the CD and press the C key and follow the instructions on the screen. Do Not choose Archive Install if you have programs that he has deleted portions of. Choose Erase and Install.

After you do it go to the Blue Apple upper left click it and choose Software Update and download all the updates for your computer.

Your other option is to purchase a newer version of OSX. But, before you do go to apple's web site and check and make sure that your version of computer meets the bare system requirmrequirementsll even install on your system.

Well wait if you had Limewire before on Mac OS X and then you say it was deleted. This makes no sense to me you had a compatible version of Limewire so just download that version again. Try to look around a little on google next time..........heres a link and this says it will work for almost all OS X operating systems

Most people don't usually look on google for you next time do some research on your own to find a solution.

Take the computer to an Apple store and have them help you. Macs aren't as easy to operate as Windows PCs once you do something more than click an icon.

To make that selection once you turn on your pc, carry down the alternative key and you will see the two partitions you place up. click the only that has the working device you want to apply.
