Whenever you end a program, whatever the program controls stops working. It is usually hard to determine what those programs are controlling other than the obvious ones, like firefox. Look at the "user name". If it says SYSTEM and you shut it down, your computer may stop working correctly. Look at MEM USAGE. You need to kill programs that use a lot of memory, but those may be ones you need, like your video.

The main reason your computer runs at 100% is lack of memory. You are using 768 Mb of virtual memory which is almost 1 Gig. Virtual memory is a space on your hard drive that "acts like" memory when your RAM is approaching it's maximum. Since the processor reads virtual memory from the hard drive, it responds more slowly than it can with RAM.

Looking at what you have running, other than the web browser, I don't see anything that is going to free up anything much even if you stop it.

Gaming is always memory intensive. You probably have the standard video card that came with your computer too, so it doesn't have much built-in memory and it's using your computer's resources to render the game's action.

Not knowing your computer's specifications it's hard to tell. But my guess is that you need more memory.

You need to exit out of Firefox before running the game. All those tabs drain all the power from your pc and will make you lag. Exit out of any program that isnt necessary before running the game also.

If all else fails, pull out the plug, wait a minute then placed it lower back lower back, whilst the laptop starts up you will get a black DOS show with a call on the backside say in start up in final solid configuration go with that one and re-start up from there, it would do the trick.
