I tried battling with the early versions of Red Hat. It was such a bad experience I moved to the much easier, more user friendly Mandrake. But dependency hell caused me to move on to Simply Mephis. That was actually easy to use, but then there were issues within that development community and I eventually migrated to Ubuntu - and that has been my distro of choice for the last 4 years or so +-. I have tinkered with Mint, Sabayon, Gentoo and a few others, and just last week installed Red Hat/Fedora 9 on a flash drive, but it doesn't like my wireless, and Ubuntu JUST WORKS! So, Ubuntu for me thanks.

mine was a live opensuse cd that I didn't like and started looking for something that I would like .
then I ordered an ubuntu cd which didn't really arrive and I finally downloaded ubuntu 7.10 that I looked for help to install it and after that it was a really pleasent experience got me to download and try many other linux distro's and dumped windows completely (and I still use ubuntu as my main distro )

Well technically my first was iPod Linux, which is a port of uClinux to the iPod.
My first experience with Linux on the PC was Damn Small Linux 2.4 (I had a really old computer.)
When I got a better computer, I started using Ubuntu 7.04. This was when I started using Linux as my main OS

Puppy!
Can't remember anything about it, except I could get it to run a 200Mhz machine that was so old, it ran on coal power rather than electricity. Puppy is still on a disk here somewhere-

Linux Mint 6.0 (Felicia)
I don't use it too often since i can't get my stupid wireless card working with it on my Desktop PC.
But I plan on Installing XP and Mint 6.0 on my laptop.

SuSE (not openSuSE) 9.3. It was a huge learning curve and, if I'm honest, almost defeated me. It was only when I installed openSuSE 10.2 that I really got to grips with Linux.
