Basically ive set my Tv up as an extended display so I can watch HD video from my computer on it. My monitor and TV are both 26 inches, the maximum resolution available for my monitor is 1920x1200 which is what I use. I was hoping I could get the same setting on the TV but the highest resolution im being offered is 1600x1200

Sorry, sweetheart ... and I offer that as a general term of endearment. It is NOT intended to be offensive, obnoxious, condescending, or sexist ... though, I must admit, I have yet to use it to an adult male, apart from my own two grown up sons and one of their friends who I've unofficially 'adopted' ... but that's a limitation imposed on you by the 'natural' resolution's capability of the monitor itself.

If you did find a way to get a higher resolution, your TV screen would probably display the error message "Out of range".

Just because the screens are the same physical sizes doesn't mean they are the same resolution.

It may be that the TV has a max resolution of 1600x1200 or it could be that your laptop driver wont support an external secondary display over 1600x1200, are you using it as a second display (extended desktop) or a copy of the internal one?

relies upon on your television and your pc. examine your connections on your television and your connections on your pc (the place that's hooked as much as a visual reveal unit). pics enjoying cards might have distinctive connectors. purely a count of having a cable with the fabulous adapters for each end. often that's maybe desperate by utilising how recent each and each merchandise is. The extra moderen tvs might have a socket purely like a working laptop or laptop visual reveal unit performed. Older stuff your television might have limited decision. additionally i do no longer understand no count if that's an argument yet be careful that your video card is able to regulate. might run warm and mess you up after a on an identical time as.
