My computer died on me and I had to get a new hard drive. I normally back up my information regularly, so that wasn't a big problem.

The only thing that's going to take FOREVER is re-entering all my contact information for Microsoft Outlook. For future references, is there some kind of way to backup this information as well, so that once I re-install Outlook, I can just re-install the contact list and not have to spend over an hour re-entering all that information?

Thanks!

Outlook stores your contacts in the .pst file under contacts. You can download a (free) backup utility from Microsoft that lets you backup all or part of the pst.

Or you could just backup the pst by hand.

In xp it's in c:\documents and settings\userid\local settings\applicaton data\microsoft\outlook

In vista it's in c:\documents and settings\userid\appdata\local\microsoft\outlook

If you can't see the above, go to Folder Options, View and turn on Show Hidden Files and Folders

Its simple, just export the address book. It will ask you to browse to the location where you want to save and in what format. Choose as per your convenience. After that save it in a place where it won't get destroyed again. In future when yu need it just copy it to your comp back.
