I've seen a lot of forum posts about people not being able to run older games on windows 7, usually ones made before the release of Vista. There seems to be no workaround other than running XP mode but i'm on 64 bit premium so don't have this feature. I've tried all the compatibility modes, disabling UAC and AVirus software with no success. Would they likely run on any 32-bit build of Win 7 or even Starter Edition? I'm tempted to buy a cheap netbook loaded with XP just to play my old games dating back to before 2004, none of them are very demanding. Any suggestions/ solutions?

If compatability mode doesn't work, download Microsoft Virtual pc for Windows 7. You can then run a virtual win XP system and will be able to install your game. Go here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/958559

I don't know I have windows seven 32bit and I can run age of empires 1 (1998) with only a very minor water glitch

What games are you specifically trying to play? Some games have Vista/Win7 patches that make them work. Other games can be run using DOS emulators or whatnot.

setup a dual boot system with XP being the other OS
