Windows 7 in Virtual PC?

I've downloaded and installed Windows Virtual PC 2007. I also downloaded Windows 7 and want to run it in Virtual PC. The downloaded Windows 7 is a RAR file and it's called '7100.0.090421-1700_x64fre_client_en-us_retail_ultimate-grc1culxfrer_en_dvd" It says it's an ISO file but when I extract the files there is no ISO file, just a setup.exe file and lots of other folders. I need the ISO to load into Virtual PC. Where is it?

I think the thing you extracted was the ISO file...



When I downloaded Windows 7 it didn't come in a ZIP archive. Sometimes things like winrar and 7zip will recognize ISOs as archives and open them revealing the files inside.



Also where did you download 7 from?

Because anywhere but the microsoft website will usually lead to a leaked or ill put together version. Most of which are illegal.

It wasn't a RAR file, it was an ISO file that looked like an RAR file. Use Imgburn to burn the ISO to a DVD, or use Virtual PC to run from the iso.

as i think you had installed winrar on ur machine with ISO Support, this indirectly show as well as open the iso file as RAR, so what it is showing as RAR is basically The required ISO, (7100.0.090421-1700_x64fre_client_en-us_....iso) so if u want to check if I'm right then try using that file as ISO, and if it works, then choose me as Best

An iso is a disk image.. you either need to burn the image to a disk, using something like Active@ Iso burner, or you need to find an iso emulator (http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/downloads/iso_emulator_info/ is one example) to mount the image so you can run it.
