Actually, I have been using vista and Im a satisfied customer. But all I have here is just some added softwares. XP is still good if you want compatibility over hardwares (unless you already got drivers for vista). Vista isnt that great but its a little better than xp.



Other features? Well, if you're into ultimate youll just get a DVD creator and the aero (much more like a hardware hog).

Compatibility with older programs



There is no trouble loading earlier versions of MS Office such as Office 2003 on computers running the Vista operating system.



On the downside, there are vexing compatibility issues because Microsoft added so many bells and whistles to Office 2007 that they can be contained only in a new file type such as .docx in Word.



Unfortunately, .docx files cannot be read by the earlier versions of Office, so Microsoft offers a compatibility pack that can be downloaded to let Office 2000/XP/2003 view Office 2007 documents but with a number of features of 2007 absent.

cool new features. If you can afford it. I don't have windows vista but i have XP Media Edition. I wouldn't upgrade it but if you really need it, well...

I plan to use the XP Home Edition or Media Edition, etc. until the computer breaks down. Then, i would buy a computer with vista

I was about to, but I opted not to. Windows Vista is very new, and frankly there are many things in which WV barely knows about itself; therefore, it becomes very difficult to figure out what is the matter with the program if anything fails, because it is fairly new. I suggest you wait a couple of more years. Besides, Vista is mostly spectacle, nothing really helpful, unless you have a business and you want to work with your colleages from Tokyo to Sydney, or something. But then again, we still can do that without Vista.

Yes! It is advisable to upgrade your Operating System (winxp to vista) just like updating you Win Xp to microsoft.

Lots of requirements needs to take. Bigger hardisk capacity. Bigger RAM. Better video card. etc.



Most of the people choose to upgrade to Vista, is for Vista's GUI. Graphical User Interface. Its GUI is so cool. Most of it is the color black theme. For me. That is vista is all about. Beautiful interface. (GUI).



some of my friends use Vista for their laptop. Why? I asked them then they say... " Its cool Looking" haha LoL right?



My final advice is this. More people still use WinXp (even I).

If you are a Microsoft Office user (word, excel, power point,) and you want to upgrade to vista, you must change to office 2007 which is not so popular now. And cannot be open in Office 2003 if theres no office compatibility pack installed.



Dont use Vista yet.

Why not set your computer up as a dual boot system?



You could have both XP & Vista on it & choose which one you wanted to use everytime you booted it up.



This would give you time to check out Vista & it's features, not to mention time for more software & hardware developers to come up with Vista compatible components & drivers.



You would still have XP to use for your important stuff too.



Microsoft has said they will continue XP support through 2014 so there really isn't a rush to get on the Vista bandwagon for most people.

i bought a new laptop and waited til vista came out, i honestly don't see all that big a difference. the only thing that is a little different is the graphics are slightly better, but if you are thinkging of upgrading just to do it i honestly think it would be a waste of money. i just waited cause i was in the market for a new laptop and it was a week away from the vista release.

I've got Vista Premium and am not impressed. My advise is to wait until after Microsoft releases service pack 1. Right now, you'll probably not be able to find Vista drivers for all of your hardware.

No not really worth it. Vista is very memory intensive; you won't enjoy any "benefits" unless you have a decent amount of RAM and video memory. My thoughts to you: if you absolutely have to spend money on your computer right now, buy some ram. Then, in 6 months, buy Vista for yourself. You'll be glad you did.

Simply no, Wait until Windows get the bugs out of Vista Software before you get it. Thats what happened to Internet Explorer 7 where you couldn't follow links from your e-mail client.
