If you are using office 2010, you can save your word to pdf directly, no need other software.

But if your Office is 2007, you can download a "save as PDF/XPS" add-in from Microsoft.

Maybe this article can help u, http://www.simpopdf.com/resource/how-to-save-your-office-files-to-pdf-format-free.html

Method A (only for Office 2007) :

Download and install the Office Addin: 2007 Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS (http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/4/b/f4bfd843-a0b6-4031-aa98-0a3db7403d0f/SaveAsPDFandXPS.exe ) so that you can save your word files as pdf files directly after finishing.

Method B (for Office 2000, 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2010):

Use the free Office to pdf converter Moyea PPT to PDF Converter

http://www.dvd-ppt-slideshow.com/ppt-pdf-converter/

to convert your word files to pdf files directly.

Method C (only for Office 2010):

If you are using Word 2010, you can save the Word file to pdf file directly.

If you've Word or any Office program you may already have the software to do it. Go to Word's Office Button or the file menu dending on which version you have and click on Save As...

It may already have the save as PDF option. If not you need the add-on for it - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=4d951911-3e7e-4ae6-b059-a2e79ed87041
