There's a little problem:
I'm looking for a shortcut to put the Microsoft Word icon on my desktop. The thing is, i know how to get it from the start menu, microsoft office tools, then drag it to the desktop, but apparently, I don't have microsoft word. I have documents from Microsoft Word, and I just open my previous documents and open a new page. I hate doing that over and over again.
So will i have to download microsoft again?, because i really don't want to, but if i have to.. i will =\ please help. and thanks in advance =)

Try this:

1. In Windows Explorer (aka My Computer), navigate to

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office (for Office 2000)

or

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10 (for Office 2002 (XP))

or

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11 (for Office 2003)

or

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12 (for Office 2007)

2. Right-click on Winword.exe and select Create Shortcut. A pop-up will ask you if you want to create it on the desktop. Click Yes.

That should do it.

Open a document you have in Microsoft Word.

Then, once you're on word, open a new page/file.

Then SAVE the new-and-blank file, and you can call it "Microsoft Word" or indeed anything you want, and save it to your desktop. Make this file READ ONLY so when you open it, it opens the new-and-blank file and when you do do some work and it's time to save it, it will make you choose a new filename.

Alternatively, you can try find out what the real program name is.

try going to my computer: C: Program Files: Microsoft Office, now your gonna see a bunch of folders, look for one that sayss OFFICE and a number exe. OFFICE12. when you get that scroll down until you find a file that says WinWord.exe. right click that and click create shortcut, paste that onto your desktop! and you can do that with all the other Microsoft apps too, exe. Exel=WinEXEL

if it opens that means you have it. but maybe someone deleted the shortcut from your programs menu. you have two solutions:

either search for it and right click and send to desktop (shortcut)

or

go to My computer, C, program files, Microsoft, then you'll find it there.

I hope my answer made a difference : )

U can insert the Office disk, and run the Repair mode.

But it's easy to run Word with Start -> Run -> winword
