Hi, there are a few torrents that i've downloaded (i use uTorrent) once they are complete i end up with one file that seems to want to be opened by 'system information' and loads of others where it cannot recognize a programme on my computer in which to open it with.

When i go to the comments on that torrent there are a lot of people talking about unzipping this file, i'm familiar with what this is but the file doesn't seem to be the type that would usually get unzipped (all very confusing!!)

anyone with preety good experience of torrent programmes got any suggestions?

Cheers!

most files don't get zipped by a .zip anymore they have all sorts of fancy ones.

Download a program called winrar, it's free and will unzip pretty much any type of zip file. The most common being .rar.

If you are talking about opening the something that opened up into system information, you can right click the file and select the Notepad or Wordpad program. This is the uploaders note that contains the information of the downloaded file.

*.torrent information are actually not compressed information, it means which you would be able to no longer use winrar or different decompressing utility. BitTorrent is the call of a peer-to-peer (P2P) report distribution protocol, and is the call of a unfastened utility implementation of that protocol. The protocol grow to be initially designed and created by applying programmer Bram Cohen, and is now maintained by applying BitTorrent Inc. BitTorrent is designed to distribute somewhat a lot of records extensively without incurring the corresponding intake in high priced server and bandwidth aspects. CableLabs, the study enterprise of the North American cable marketplace, believes that BitTorrent represents fifty 5% of the upstream site visitors on the cable companies' get admission to community.[a million] CacheLogic places that extensive form at type of 35% of all site visitors on the internet,[2] in spite of the undeniable fact that there are dissenting evaluations on the technique to degree P2P site visitors on the internet.[3] the unique BitTorrent customer grow to be written in Python. Its source code, as of version 4.0, has been released below the BitTorrent Open source License, it somewhat is a changed version of the Jabber Open source License. there are multiple properly suited purchasers, written in certainly one of those programming languages, and dealing on certainly one of those computing systems.

Right click on the file... select "open with".... select "Notepad" from the list and hit OK.

The .nfo file is just a text file that contains information about the torrent.

There should also be a .rar or .zip file in the same folder which you can open using Winrar or 7zip... links below.

I'll second the recommendation for WinRar.

Winzip is also great (and the original), and will open almost any archive these days, but it's not free.

The Vuze answer is irrelevant - that's simply another Bit Torrent tool and has nothing to do with zip formats.

Tony :)

The key is when you first click on the torrent file on the web page, then your pc asks if you want to open or save it...make sure you click open! (If you click save the pc will just save the torretn file, no good. You need to click open, then the PC will use your torrent client to open the file, which will convert the info into the file you have tried to download (.mp3, .mp4, .avi etc)

Hi there,

Maybe try the latest version of Winrar? --> http://j.mp/1p3PwJf

The best choice to open (extract) zipped files is definitly WinRar. It's able to decompress a lot of different files as zip,rar,iso,7z,jar and much more.

Best of luck!
