my windows 8 stopped working?

Question

Ok, so I bought my laptop with windows 8 but now when I login into my laptop it brings me to a blank purple screen because purple is the theme color. The only thing I can do is login and move the cursor on a blank screen. However, sometimes this Norton virus subscription is the only thing that pops up on the blank purple screen after I login. When I click on subscription it opens a web browser in the empty purple space. That is how I've been able to use my laptop to surf the web. Every other feature of my laptop is MIA its just a blank screen. The windows home page with all the windows 8 apps is not coming up even when I press the windows button on my keyboard. I am afraid that I turned off my computer from the power button by accident and now my computer is messed up. If this is reversible will I loose all the files I save on my laptop. Is my windows 8 gone?

If you couldn't restore the OS just try this step.

Re-install the Windows 8 again but only If you don't have any important files on C drive.

Either it is an installation error or you have a virus. Just do a clean install. If it is not a new laptop, try doing a system restore.
