Question:
Should I upgrade from Windows XP to WIndows 7?
2009-10-29 20:03:55 UTC
Okay so I am trying to decide if it would be worth it to me to upgrade from my current Windows XP to Windows 7. I use my computer mainly for gaming and using the internet, and a little bit of photo stuff. So my main worry is the compatibility of my games with 7. I read in a PC magazine that Home Premium can play older games without the XP virtual mode is the Professional version. So should I upgrade?

Since you did not upgrade to Vista you probably like old archaic operating systems so stay with XP

I strongly suggest sticking with XP. Microsoft will stop supporting it in 2014 AND it keep extending that date...

You could even dump Microsoft all together and install Linux (Probably Ubuntu) on your computer. It can extend the usefulness of your computer: unlike the Microsoft people the Linux people try to use the least computer resources as possible. In fact, Ubuntu has a bad rep for using resources for a Linux Distro. 256 MB of RAM minimum. Same amount as XP would use(minimum).

So I say stick with XP. Windows 7 is overated.

If you decide to get Windows 7 don't upgrade; get a new computer, your's probably isn't good enough.

It's not about liking the old. It's about beating the system.

If you really want to know why Microsoft is always releasing new Windows versions, it's because having a release cycle is how they make their money. Windows is their second biggest cash-cow next to MS Office.

Without a good reason to upgrade, stick with XP.

You're always going to run into compatibility problems with a new operating system, and even though Windows 7 is an improvement over Vista in many ways, there are a number of issues that remain to be ironed out.

Wait for SP1 if you really want it.

>>Fortunately, I'm the earliest ones who use Windows 7 and I've tried it for months! I bougt a ultimate version yesterday.

Better visual effects / much easier to use / much more stable & compatible / much more friendly user interface......

Now I'm using windows 7 to leave the message to you!

To be honest, this is the best windows OS I've ever used! Indeed,Microsoft releases a successor worthy of Windows XP. (Vista really sucks and I just ignore it)

Worthy! Absolutely!!

you are able to not improve rapidly from domicile windows XP to domicile windows 7. era. it won't carry over your information. era. you ought to purchase the greater inexpensive "improve" version of domicile windows 7 because of the fact which you have already got XP, and you'd be able to "improve" your working equipment to a greater moderen version, yet you won't be able to rapidly "improve" and function your information, settings, etc. carry over as maximum individuals prefer. you will technically be compelled to do an entire clean installation, whether you have the "improve" version. era. i did no longer make it this sort, Microsoft did. and that i responded an entire finished ton of questions approximately this while domicile windows 7 got here out. it may probably be clever to flow with domicile windows 7 at this think approximately the experience that your pc can manage it and the guy on the keep will do it for you and not using a severe fee. although, you will would desire to back up something severe in case you opt to maintain it. Your information won't nevertheless be there. the best component of do (in case you are able to arise with the money for it) is for the guy in the keep to place a clean demanding force on your pc and to place in domicile windows 7 to that. you are able to then nevertheless connect remotely on your previous demanding force, and pull off any information that are nevertheless there. in the experience that your previous demanding force develop into the middle problem (which the guy in the keep could have the ability to at last tell), this saves you. And if this is not, you are able to now use it as a backup force incredibly. yet everyone telling you this is not any problem to "improve" or which you have a decision between an improve and an entire installation or that your information will nevertheless be there for you is misguided. XP to domicile windows 7 is *continually* a clean installation, although this is finished with the greater inexpensive "improve" version of the utility.

No.

If your computer is old enough to have come w/ XP then it probably won't be worth it to upgrade to Windows 7.

Just get Windows 7 when you get a new computer. There really is no need to get a new OS when you don't do much with it anyway.

I would most definatly NOT upgrade.

Fat cats get fatter at YOUR expense.

Ask yourself this: where do they get the billions to pay the fines for the anti-trust cases they lose?

Why is Linux free?

Why do Microsoft run Hotmail on Linux and not even one of their many fantastic ever so powerful network Operating Systems.

YOUR XP SERVICE PACK 3 IS MORE STABLE.

Wait until Windows 7 has service pack 3 then try it out.

Uhh.. why we get service packs if it's so perfect?

WHAT was VISTA and why is there now Windows 7.

LOL.. Are you guys for real ?

And the guys who thumbs down this are probably suckers who bought Win7 and don't want to feel stupid.
