Search on the internet for "FreeDOS" "Debug.exe" "unusual history of MSDOS" "asm" separately.
Download an image of FreeDOS1.0 from freedos.org
Install it in your computer.
Use debug.exe to study internals of intel.
Write programs and invoke asm.exe
Cheers.

To program the x86 one must use Assembly Language. Obviosuly, you'll need some software tools to do this in addition to the microprocessor itself and a hardware kit which enables you to mointor and program the microprocessor as well as helps you to look at its output.
